Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Va.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2977], present in this room.

3. As we find, there are conditions that disturb or prevent - at periods - the better normal physical functioning.

4. These, we find, have been long existent in the body - until it has become a body-constitutional condition.

5. We find that in TIME this might be corrected, so that there would be little or no reactions of the nature that at times occur; yet in the correction we find it would bring on at least three or more very VIOLENT attacks - and this might disturb or discourage the body, even, from that as would make correction of the condition.

6. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [2977] we are speaking of, present in this room:

7. In the blood supply of the body - we find that this varies quite a good deal. At particular periods; that is, when there are the tendencies for excesses of acidity, or when there are those activities with the spleen and with the kidneys and liver; there is produced very little of eliminations through normal channels. And usually such periods are followed with the spasmodic reaction in the lung, in the trachea and the bronchi, but more in the trachea. This produces then violet sweats, that set up an activity that throws off a great deal of these drosses or accumulations.

8. And when these spasmodic reactions have passed, gradually the circulation becomes the nearer normal, with the blood for the time being purified.

9. The sources of this condition, we find, arise from a

2977-1 Page 2

subluxation that exists in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cervical. Slight, yes - but of that nature especially in the 4th, where the cartilaginous forces between the segments there have their reflexes; not only by its position or connection with the other organs of the body but through the nerve reflexes and nerve forces - as the digestive forces - in the reflexes from the 6th dorsal, and also the connection there with the 9th, as related to the spleen and the pancrean activities, and those also as related to the 12th dorsal and the 4th lumbar.

10. So, the reactions indicated to the sympathetic system - in the brush end of the spinal cord, or spinal nerve centers that join with the larger plexus to the lower areas of the abdominal areas of the body as well as the limbs themselves - produce, when these reactions come, the weakness that follows the spasmodic reaction of the asthmatic condition in bronchi and lungs and trachea.

11. The activities to the nerve forces become very exhausting at times to the body. Thus the body recuperates or "comes back" very well. But it is gradually affecting more the heart's activity (from the administrations being made), or the circulation between heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. For, all of these at some part of the period of those activities are gradually beginning to suffer under the distresses; through the system's attempt to adjust itself by increasing the circulation through those conditions produced by plethora from the pressures produced at that ganglia in the 4th cervical.

12. Now, as we find, there may be either of the two methods used: The submitting to those activities or periods when there will be the reactions as to cause a very violent reaction, and a period of stress. Or, those applications that may be kept as palliatives, that will keep down those spasmodic reactions to a minimum.

13. And then with the precautions as to diet, as to the care of self and of the general activity, the body may be bettered by same - but not cured of the condition; though with the other corrective measures used there will still remain those tendencies.

14. As we find, the corrective measures would require periods when thorough adjustments are to be made osteopathically; each period requiring at least six to eight weeks, with the treatments made twice a week for at least eight to ten periods. But these pressures or cartilaginous forces would be broken up entirely by having an adjustment for this period of the first six weeks, and then a rest period from same for something like four to five weeks - and

2977-1 Page 3

then having another series of corrections, and so on.

15. All during such a time there would be taken internally two properties, which have their pathological and psychological effect upon the central nerve system and the circulation, which will aid in removing the drosses and in bringing bettered conditions.

16. This subluxation is of such a nature that this might be determined even by the fluoroscope or shadowgraph, or X-ray, as to just how the correction is to be made - the UNDER SIDE of same; which, as we find, is a result of the manner of presentation when the body was born into the world. It should have been adjusted in the early stages, and not had this growth of the cartilaginous forces on the inside of that area.

17. Throughout the period of rest from taking the osteopathic treatments, then, we would take every other day two drops of Atomidine in half a glass of water before the morning meal is taken.

18. Also every other day (but on alternate days, you see) take internally half an ounce of Mullein Tea.

19. This is to react upon the nerve forces AND the circulation as related to the superficial activity, so that this is kept open.

20. Take each of these properties, in this dosage, every other day for ten days, then leave off for five days. Then repeat, and so on.

21. These would be the corrective measures, you see.

22. If the palliative measures are taken, instead of the corrective:

23. Have periods of taking just the properties internally as we have indicated, with the occasional relaxation of the electrically driven vibrator. This will ALLAY these attacks and will prevent them at some periods, but would necessitate the dosage of the Atomidine being five drops each day for five days, and then a rest period. Do not take this more than five days straight running, if this method is used.

24. Do that.

25. Ready for questions.

26. (Q) What causes the breaking out, when I don't have asthma, especially just before and during menstrual periods? What treatment is advised? (A) As just indicated, this is the effect of the manner in which the superficial circulation is disturbed by this pressure existing in the cervical areas - as coordinating with the dorsal and lumbar areas. And that is how and why, as indicated, if this treatment is taken only as a palliative, it would be necessary to use the electrically

driven vibrator - to stimulate the superficial circulation - as well as taking those properties indicated which will gradually purify the blood flow and keep a better normal balance in the circulation through heart, liver and kidneys, as well as a better circulation through the superficial activity of the body.

27. (Q) Is it possible for me to have a child? (A) It wouldn't be advisable. It is possible. Under those tendencies that have so long existed, we would carry to the offspring those disagreeable conditions as related to lungs and heart.

28. (Q) Has there been a physical cause for my not having children? (A) As indicated, you may thank yourself or your God that there hasn't been thus far!

29. (Q) Please outline a proper diet for me. (A) Keep away from those things as of sweets. Keep out of drafts, and from getting the feet wet. Keep sea foods as a good part of the diet. DO take artichokes in ALL their forms, for this will aid in keeping a better balance in those tendencies for disturbances of circulation between the pancreas and the liver, as well as the kidneys. These should be taken raw at times, and cooked at times, when the Jerusalem artichoke is taken. Vary these. When the French or the bulb character of artichoke is used, have plenty of butter with same. But these are good for the body. Corn cakes, corn bread would be good; provided sweets are not eaten with same. Not too much of fats. Fish, fowl and lamb are preferable to other foods as meats. Never hog meat, save crisp breakfast bacon. Leafy vegetables are preferable to those of the bulbular character. Carrots, lettuce and celery - have these most every day - mostly raw.

30. (Q) Why do I take cold so easily? (A) Those tendencies as just indicated, for the accumulation of acidity - because of the poor superficial eliminations, you see. Hence the taking of the properties indicated will not only purify and clarify but prevent colds.

2977-1 Page 5

Do as has been given, and we will find much bettered conditions for this body.

31. We are through for the present. Two copies for Self (one for the osteopath, if you choose to follow the corrective method indicated) Copy to Ass'n file (For this particular type of osteopathic correction we would refer you to Dr. C. W. Irvin, Bankers Trust Bldg., Norfolk, Va. Atomidine should be secured from People's or Burrow-Martin's, or it may be ordered direct from The Atomidine Co., 9 South 8th Ave., Mt. Vernon, N.Y., $1 a bottle. To make Mullein Tea: Gather the green Mullein that grows wild in the rural sections. Bruise the fresh Mullein leaves. To an ounce of the bruised leaves add a pint of boiling water and allow to steep as tea. This means an ounce in quantity, not in weight. If kept in the ice box two doses may be taken from this quantity. But make fresh every other time it is taken. The Jerusalem artichoke, if not on the market, may be secured also in some rural districts. It is the type artichoke used for making pickles. One about the size of a hen egg may be eaten raw like a carrot at one time, and the next time it may be cooked and seasoned as you would an Irish potato - but retaining all the juice, by cooking in Patapar Paper. In case you have trouble locating the Mullein, one of our members told us the other day she had plenty of it growing wild in her yard: Mrs. [2330], ..., Virginia. Phone ... She lives on ... the second house to the right...) .)
