Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Illinois.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3008], present in this room.
3. As we find, while there are some disturbing conditions, these are rather of the nature of which the body should be warned.
4. While they have not so unbalanced any portion of the system as to become constitutional, they are of such natures as would undermine the coordinations between the eliminating and assimilating systems. Thus the organs of the central system might become involved - as the lungs, heart, liver and kidneys - as related to the circulation of both the sympathetic and the central blood and nerve system.
5. These arise, we find, from two causes - an unbalancing of the activities of the glandular system as related to the central nerve supply, and that as related to the activity of the organs in their distribution of used energies in the body. Thus the metabolism and katabolism of the system are at present involved.
6. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [3008] we are speaking of, present in this room:
7. The blood supply indicates that at various times there are those tendencies for the lack of proper drainage in the system to coordinate eliminations. This causes, in the katabolism of the system, a tendency for the nerves in certain ganglia and areas to produce the inclination for contracting in the tendon and muscular forces. Hence there are at times touches of a neuritic-arthritic reaction, but NOT neurosis. These are effects that come from the disturbance through the glandular forces - the adrenals,
3008-1 Page 2
the thyroid, and the glands about the digestive areas.
8. The spleen becomes involved in this at times. Hence that feeling of depression when too oft alone.
9. In the nervous system - as indicated, there are those tendencies for the katabolism to be involved, which causes not an organic heart disorder not yet an organic liver or kidney disturbance, yet each of these causes some disturbance - as combined with the circulation, nerve circulation, through the distressed areas. These are sympathetic, then.
10. As to the heart disorder - this is more of a functional nature as related to the liver, and the reflex as to the kidney. For, all of these show their tendencies, as indicated.
11. The organs themselves are not organically involved, but show functional disorders - from an unbalancing between the systems, through the activity of glands, as well as the lack of their coordination in the eliminations of the body.
12. Then, in making applications that would be beneficial for this body:
13. As indicated, there should be a stimuli to produce a better coordination between cerebrospinal and sympathetic or vegetative nerve system, with such reactions - from such stimuli to the organs - as not to cause an unbalancing but an activity for revitalizing their abilities for reproduction of their own cellular forces. These should be the measures or means for keeping in better conditions.
14. These may be best attained, we find, through hydrotherapy, combined with a FORM of electrotherapy.
15. Each hydrotherapy treatment, then, should include - regularly - about once a week (having a regular period, but not such regularity as for the body to become too dependent upon such stimuli) - a light sweat. For this body, preferably let the sweat come from the Fume Bath. And for the first two Fume Baths, the Fumes should be of Witchhazel - a teaspoonful to the three ounces of water that would be boiling under the body - while in the cabinet - to produce the fumes. The third Fume Bath should carry Atomidine - half a teaspoonful to the three ounces of boiling water that produces the fumes. Continue in this ratio; two Fume Baths using Witchhazel, one Fume Bath using Atomidine, and so on. The reaction of these properties upon the superficial circulation will make for better coordination of the superficial circulation, and cause less tendency for the rash which at times tends to irritate the body; also alleviating those tendencies for the muscular forces and tendons to be taut in portions of the body - especially in
3008-1 Page 3
the lower limbs and through the arms and shoulders, and neck.
16. These are the types of treatment, then, for the beginning of the hydrotherapy.
17. Following each such Fume Bath, there should be a thorough massage with a combination of oils that would be a stimulation to the ganglia and tendon centers for better reaction to a stimulated circulation.
18. To 4 ounces of Peanut Oil, add - in the order named: Olive Oil............3 ounces, Pine Needle Oil......1 ounce.
19. Shake these thoroughly together. Use these, not too sparingly, in the massage; especially along the area of the spine, the limbs, and especially the feet, in the bursa of the frontal portion of the feet, and the heel - these areas especially; under the knee, across the lower portion of the shoulder and shoulder blade - especially there.
20. These, as we find, with precautions as to diet, and with sufficient exercise in the open, should make for quite a change in the physical reactions of this body; giving the better opportunity for the activity of the mental and spiritual forces that should react in the body.
21. In the diet, keep closer to the vegetables that are of the leafy variety.
22. Do have Jerusalem artichoke once each week, but cook this in its own juices; that is, in Patapar Paper. One should be sufficient. For this supplies sufficient of insulin for the correcting of this disturbance between the pancreas and the liver activity, as with the cleansing of the system by the circulation through the kidney. This will also react upon both the thyroid and the adrenal activity in the circulation in this body.
23. Beware of too much sweets. Ices are very well. Beware of berries, or of too much of those things the seeds of which are on the outside.
24. The activities should be much in the open; walking.
25. And take the head and neck exercise regularly; this for the head, the neck, the eyes, and the organs of the sensory system.
26. And these, as we find, will bring bettered conditions for this body; preventing many of those disturbances that might arise from the tendencies which exist.
27. As to the attitude - be not only good; be good FOR something, and this not only as related to self but in its relations to others.
28. Ready for questions.
3008-1 Page 4
29. (Q) How often should the hydrotherapy be given? (A) Once a week until at least eight or ten treatments are taken. During those rest periods after the Fume Bath and massage, do rest for at least fifteen minutes under the ultra-violet light. But DO have always the green light projected between the ultra-violet and the body. The ultra-violet should be at least sixty inches from the body, and only the Mercury light. The green light should be eight by ten, or ten by twelve, and about fourteen to eighteen inches from the body. These are healing influences of that taken out of the Infra ray, see?
30. (Q) Is there any cancerous growth or tendency? (A) No cancerous growth or tendency. There are those tendencies as may indicate segregation in the body, because of this lack of coordination between the katabolism and the metabolism of the body. But these should be dissipated if there is established better coordination between sympathetic nervous forces in the circulation and the glandular forces.
31. (Q) What can I do to avoid these so-called gall bladder attacks? (A) We have just described as to how there is the activity of these, and these will be dissipated with the diet and the exercise and the character of treatments to better establish a circulation between the liver and the kidneys.
32. (Q) What mental or spiritual condition brought them about? (A) Neither a mental or spiritual, but rather a purely physical reaction. And, as indicated, keep away from meats!
33. (Q) What can be done to stop the growing tendency towards deafness? (A) The head and neck exercises, as suggested.
34. (Q) How can more wax be supplied in the ears? (A) As the circulation is increased by the releasing of the tendencies for a tautness in the head and neck, as well as by the massage with the oils indicated, we should find the necessary circulation and the discharges being supplied that aid in keeping a balance there.
35. (Q) How can I overcome the tendency to sleeplessness? (A) This is a disturbance that arises between the superficial and the central nervous system. The massages, and the setting up of the better eliminations, will be the more helpful.
36. (Q) What makes my hand and feet swell? (A) Poor circulation.
37. (Q) How can I be most useful to humanity? (A) Let each day the prayer be, and mean it: "LORD, USE ME WHERE THOU SEEST THOU HAST NEED OF ME."
38. We are through with this Reading.

Two copies to Self (one for the Physiotherapist, if you are able to find one near you who can give the entire treatment as outlined once each week) Copy to Ass'n file (5/18/43 GD's notes: Dr. H. J. Reilly, The Reilly Service, R.C.A. Bldg., 1250 Sixth Ave., New York City, might be able to suggest a Physiotherapist in your vicinity, and - if so - would be glad to write him advising that he make the necessary changes in his treatments to conform to the suggestions given in your Reading. On the other hand, if you prefer to take the Fume Baths and massages at home, there is a Fume Bath Cabinet, also a "Fume Gown", that is sold by Montgomery, Ward & Co., also by Sears, Roebuck & Co. If having trouble locating the green plate glass, this may be ordered from The American Plate and Window Glass Co., Springdale Ave., East Orange, N.J., for $2.50 per square foot. Head and neck exercises: Of morning upon arising, and at night before retiring, stand or sit erect; bend the head forward three times, back three times, to the right side three times, to the left side three times, then circle to the right three times, to the left three times. Atomidine, to be used in the Fume Bath, if not obtainable from local druggist, may be ordered from The Atomidine Co., 9 South 8th Ave., Mt. Vernon, N.Y. - $1 a bottle. Jerusalem artichoke, if not on the market, may be ordered from The John A. Salzer Seed Co., LaCrosse, Wisconsin, for a few cents a pound - as potatoes. These have to be kept in the ground, otherwise they dry up or wither very quickly. Cook as you would a potato, but in Patapar Paper so as to preserve and eat the juice with it. Patapar Paper - in case you are not familiar with it - should be secured from the Food Dept. of most any Dept. Store, or ordered direct from Paterson Parchment Paper Co., Bristol, Penna. - sells for 25 cents a package of a dozen sheets.) eets.)
