This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Artic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of October, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3307], new Associate Member of the Ass''n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

R E A D I N G

Born September 5, 1893 [approx], and left on the doorstep of a Foundling's Home in Chicago, Ill. Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Illinois.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from the present - "1903 - changes in expressions - 1923 - another change - " etc. on back to birth date.) Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called, [3307].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records here, for this entity, many questions might arise as to sources from which such records are taken.

4. These would be of interest to some. To this particular entity the immediate carries the greater import in the present. But this entity, as every entity, has in its experience the result of the application of certain laws in the consciousness in which the entity has been active; that is: That which is enacted for selfish motives alone comes from the motivating spirit with which such prompting was done. That from meditation, or mind, for the gratifying of appetite or of self is met within the mind. The material results are the effects of the activities of these two in whatever realm they may be active.

5. Much might be said here that would be well for the records, but for this entity:

6. As we find, the birth date was rather September the third, 1893, in a portion of the Chicago area; not a tenement or tenant either, but rather of those in position,

an the body entity was an offspring of love that was belittled by an individual entity.

7. In making for impulses that arise in the emotions of this body, and in the experiences of the body, here - too - much might be given as to the body's experiences, the body's attractiveness, the body's relationships, the body's influence in the lives of those attracted to the entity in this sojourn - a result of the entity's own application of self in its relationships to others.

8. There is a channel, there is a way in which mental, physical, spiritual, doubts and fears, troubles, illness, disappointments may be met - whatever may be the disturbance for an individual entity. This is in Him, who is the life, the light, the way, the truth, and the application of those tenets manifested, proclaimed, lived, experienced in His life may bring to the entity, any entity, any soul, that which will produce harmony and peace within the own experience - whatever may be the earthly experience. For, if He abides with thee, who - or what - may be against thee? For He is life, light, and immortality. He healeth all thy diseases. He rectifieth all wrongs.

9. Then, they that put their trust in Him, without fear, without doubt, without the disturbing forces, may come to know that peace which He alone may give in material things. For He, as an individual, has passed through those temptations, those trials, those understandings, and has overcome them all.

10. So may this entity in the application of its life in this experience. Study, then, to show thyself approved unto an ideal, to be at one with Him. And the entity will find that those things that have caused doubt, fear, disturbance - in mental and in material things - will gradually dissipate, even as the fog before the morning sun.

11. As to the appearances these are few and far between, yet these are sufficient that the entity may interpret in self those abilities, those virtues, those doubts, those fears that arise from one disturbance, disorder or another in the present experience.

12. For, before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, when there was the building up of a heritage - physical and mental - during the early Dearborn experience.

13. The entity was among those that entertained, or prepared what today would be called the conversation, the script for the play that would be enacted for entertainment, in what today would be called questionable places. Yet the entity kept these sayings, these activities, in that line, in that

phase of experience that - more often than otherwise - brought the lesson home to those that were entertained by the activities.

14. In the present we find abilities of the entity in writing, depicting, the ability to make "small talk", to present a real lesson. But take rather onto self that deeper meaning, as in the lessons from the sermon on the mount as might be gained from the period of conversation with the Master and His disciples during the last hours before the offering up by the deceitfulness of a kiss. The night before - or the night of the Master's arrest - as depicted in the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of John. Weave that into thy stories, as to the promise as to the IF as to the manner in which each soul would make itself at one with that Creative Force. Not that the book, the article, that the entity would write, would become as a tract; no. But the purpose, the idea, the hope behind each conversation depicted in the writing, shall carry a lesson.

15. The name then was Mary Cowan, and this was not far from the real name in the present experience - Ryan.

16. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land among those people when there was the calling of Jairus' daughter.

17. The entity was among those that were the hired or paid mourners of that day.

18. Thus the entity in the present may find those abilities to draw upon those scenes that are of the inner life, those pertaining to spiritual, mental, yea of material happenings that move the spirit of others.

19. The name then was Elada. The entity was a changed person in those days because of the happenings there, and was among those active in he early church as helpful groups for training the young.

20. In the present experience these have been and may be not only a part of the problems but of the greatest help and hope to the entity - the activities that have given, that may give others the opportunity for not only the expressing of their own lives but guided by and in such channels through the efforts of the entity. "Not by my might, but by His might" ever should be the expression of the entity.

21. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those activities such that others were to be entrusted with the truths and tenets of those active in the periods of the Priest's dispersing of truths.

22. The entity then was an emissary to portions of the Grecian land, as now known.

23. Thus in the present the grace, the aptitude, the quickness, the abilities to attract, the ability to become

(though quiet and demure) one powerful in its ability to help those disturbed in their inner selves. The name then was Elear-Ezan.

24. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land, in those periods when there was the changing within the body forces of the sex of individuals.

25. The entity was among the children of the Law of One, and yet cohorted with the sons of Belial in the usage of their efforts to use those tenets attained by the entity for the propagation in an unseemly manner.

26. In the present the activities, the self, the abilities in its writing, in its depicting of the truths, must ever be entrusted in the one thought - the Lord is One - He is in His Holy Temple and thy body is indeed a manifestation of that Temple. Keep it holy.

27. As to the abilities of the entity: The activities of the entity should be where there is a contributing to helpful influences in groups, organizations, writing, music, home building.

28. Do that; keeping first and foremost, as may be expressed in this as the prayer, ever:

29. FATHER, GOD! IN THY LOVE, IN THY MERCY, SHOW THOU ME THE WAY. LET MY GOING IN, MY COMING OUT, EVER BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THY PURPOSE FOR THIS SOUL'S MANIFESTATION IN THE EARTH. LET THY WILL, OH GOD, EVER - AND DAILY - BE DONE IN MY BODY, IN MY MIND, IN MY PURPOSE AND SOUL IN THE EARTH.

30. Mean it, do it, live it, be it! For as ye do unto the least of thy brethren, ye do to thy Maker.

31. Ready for questions.

32. (Q) In my writing, what can I do to clear myself, make of myself a channel for stories that are real and which will help the one who reads to see more clear? (A) Just as indicated, put those truths, those tenets into activity as may be gathered from the sermon on the mount, the talk by the sea, the walk in the garden.

33. (Q) Is there anything at all I can do to help my lost boy, [...]? get a message to him? (A) No. These are his choosings. Let thy ways be rather blessings ever upon him in body, in mind, in spirit.

34. (Q) Will [...] and I meet sometime, somewhere and be given another chance? (A) Sometime, somewhere, every soul meets that which itself, has been - good or bad. It is dependant, then, upon the choices; knowing thyself to be thyself, which only may be done in Him. For, as He sought, as He asked, "Father - that I may have that glory with thee that I had before the world was - that where I am there these may be also." The

world then is indeed His, and all that in it is. Then walk, then think, then talk in that world of His - but be a citizen of that world that will be in honor and glory to Him - if ye would know thy [...] again.

35. (Q) May I know where [...] is? (A) Safe - not physically, but safe.

36. (Q) How can I best help my daughter, [5356]? Should I urge her to marry [...] now, or wait? (A) Do not urge such. Let that be of their choice. Do not live another's life. For, remember, even as He, "Neither do I condemn thee."

37. (Q) Can you tell me anything at all about my parents? (A) Leave them as they are. Their name was Ryan.

38. (Q) Shall I go on with the studies I began in 1940, of characters reading from the lines and shape of the hand? (A) These may be well, but rather read character, read the lines of the hand, of the face as taught in the Book - as He gave, as from the beginning - "These are given that they may be as signs, as symbols, as seasons, as years."
