1. GC: You will before you the body and the enquiring mind of [3743] of the ... Bank & Trust Co., in ..., N.C., and his business associations and relations. You will answer the questions which I shall ask you regarding same.

2. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [3743] and the business relations of the body.

3. Physically we find the body very good. There needs only be that nominal, normal, care taken for the body to enjoy good physical health for many days to come, without some unforeseen relations regarding same arising.

4. As to the business relations, these are extensive - and while these are growing to that proportion that cause at times some unseemly anxiety, the most of this is caused by relations of the body with some who are questioned by others in their financial relations, and are NOT the lot of the body - save by that relation. Hence there needs only be the care or precaution as respecting those connections or relations that the body enters in or associates with; for retain and gain the more general prestige in the financial way and manner as is set before the body. These should not cause any undue anxiety to the body, for the position of self is sufficiently entrenched that, without being harsh, or without treating anyone unseemly, the body need not enter relations with any that would cause to arise in the mind or in the action of others any condition that would cause too much of the worry.

5. (Q) Should the body continue in the banking business and will he make a success if he does? (A) This is rather that to be decided in one's OWN mind. These conditions exist, as given, as regarding relations with others and that which causes the undue or unseeming unrest and worry. These conditions, however, confront the body. There needs be no anxiety as regarding the success in banking circles the entity, or body, might entertain. While true, the greater success in the financial way and manner have not come solely from banking interests; yet the banking

interests and relations have brought the OPPORTUNITY for the success in the financial way and manner. The body may engage in those of a character of real estate, insurance, or manufacturing, which outlets are at present - or will be - presented to the entity, or body, for consideration, and successes made in these lines that POSSIBLY would not - with the proper handling - bring as much worry, or require as much of the physical time of the body, as would continuation in the banking business; yet there is that satisfaction to self in the making the success in this relation that is hardly ever in another position; yet, with the changes as may be brought about, there will be GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY in and through which the body might take up one or the other of the other relations that would prove, from the FINANCIAL standpoint, as great a success. As to prestige or that innate in self, it would not satisfy (for a time) as well as continuation in banking circles.

6. (Q) What may the body do to get his present banking business on a basis that will not cause him so much worry and anxiety? (A) That as has been outlined as respecting relations financially of the body with some who have and are questioned in other banking circles. These relations and conditions are KNOWN to the body - see?

7. (Q) Do the N.Y. and Cincinnati corresponding banks of the body's bank have confidence in the body? (A) The New York has ALL confidence. There are some relations with the corresponding bank in the Cincinnati that are not as well as desired by the body, through those relations of individuals that the body knows of the in self's experience that has caused and brought about some unsavory or unsatisfactory relations. Those relations and correspondent in New York may be relied upon to take care, foster, further, and assist in most any channel the body would seek or request.

8. (Q) Should the body's bank buy the business of the ... Bk. & Trust Co. in ...? and if so what is the best way to approach them? What is the ... Bank worth to the body in dollars? (A) This, again, is a question to be determined in body's OWN mind. These conditions are existent as respecting the ... Bank & Trust Co. These may be acquired through those of a portion of the Board of that institution that are on the FRIENDLY terms with the body, and these are the conditions favorable to that combination; yet there are other interests that are associated with the ... Bank that would offer this body, [3743], an opportunity to rid self of the banking business, through such combinations, and to advantage, would

the body choose to do so. Or, with the combination, the body handling same, and with the combined efforts of those already in sympathy with the combination, this may be made to be a valuable asset in the scope, field, policy (in some respects), and other outside relations, for the Union Bank & Trust Company - Union Central.

9. (Q) Will the body meet with success in his efforts to sell Lake View Park to Detroit people thru Mr. Love? (A) These, as we find, will eventually prove successful, and a very valuable asset to the body. While we see some delays yet before the next season for same, we find this may be consummated in a satisfactory manner. Much would depend upon the decision of the body as respecting its association and relation with other interests and the efforts of the body to interest capital in Detroit, or other places, in this special development; for it comes to a development in its final analyses for the region and district, and while the Detroit interests are really interested, there have been other places that are as equal, in some respects, to this location, this circumstance; yet they do not offer ALL the facilities or the conditions as agreeable or amenable to the desires of the development contemplated by those interested, or being interested through Mr. Love.

10. (Q) Will the body's responsibilities be lighter in the future? (A) Dependent upon the decision of the body, entirely!

11. That is all the questions.

12. Much may be given as respecting the efforts of this body and its business relations. These may be presented in various attitudes, or from various spheres of activity. These are given as conditions that exist in the present time and surroundings.

13. We are through for the present.
