1. EC: [3967], yes, we have him here; trouble in the sensory nerves of the whole system. Reflex conditions of the catarrhal nature produces trouble with his eyes and nose. Sometimes we have a buzzing in the ears.
2. The conditions we have here which caused the trouble with his eyes is up here in his head. The condition here produces the trouble, and is causing it right now, a lesion here at the second dorsal vertebra where we come in contact with the plexus that is in direct relation to the brain at the posterior portion. The sensory organisms are involved through this plexus that is irritated along the spine at the second dorsal, also, we have a lesion, this trouble in the neck at the second cervical is most marked, it also extends around into the facial muscles and nerves around the lobes of the ear.
3. Now we take up the optic nerve, the nerve of the eye. We had a catarrhal condition first in the nasal tract and nasal passages which produced considerable trouble and extended into the throat and in turn into the ear, produces irritation which was carried to the common center at the base of the brain or the region of the optic nerve. The optic nerve, in consequence of this irritation becomes irritated and atrophied. In other words, it shrinks upon itself as a result of lack of blood supply, due to lesions at the base of the brain and in the cervical region, which cut off its food, so to speak. The whole sensory system becomes very stimulating and as the optic nerve was awakened it had to bear the majority of the trouble; the result was the present condition which we see here. The optic nerve is a link connecting the eye with the brain. The condition of the eye is a strained condition, we have drawing pains. Nature brings this about in order to save the retina as it comes in for its share of the trouble, in consequence of this diseased condition. It does not get enough nourishment and we have a loss of sight in the eye as a result. This strain on the optic nerves produces, reflexly, trouble also in the facial muscles.
4. In treating this case first, remove the lesions in the

spine, especially, in the neck, and we will stop the condition where it is now, keep it from progressing further. Take away this pressure at the second dorsal, second cervical and also at the second lumbar as these conditions down the spine are reflexly connected with conditions in other part of the body. This will aid nature to build up new tissue outside of the eye proper. The only conditions that exist here are conditions that exist in the eye as a whole, resulting from these remote troubles in the spine. Relax these conditions, get them thoroughly relaxed, relax the whole sensory system.
5. Rest the eyes, the hearing, in fact all the special senses.
6. Relax the conditions of the lumbar and note the conditions that result in the face and generally throughout the body. The circulation will be equalized in all parts of the body, and also nature will absorb and carry away the waste or diseased conditions that exist here at the diseased areas and at the base of the brain and along the spine where the inflammation exists at present that should feed the optic tract and also other nerves of special sense.
7. Do not exert these nerves, it will cause additional inflammation. Absorb the condition that produces this inflammation by manipulation [osteopathically] until this trouble is removed.
8. Unless this trouble is removed very soon the inflammation here will extend along the optic nerve so that we won't have any eyesight.
