R E A D I N G
Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Taken 3:55 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Oregon.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
2. EC: Yes. As we find there is a complication of disturbances, arising from the reflexes produced by the disturbances in this body. These are the effects produced from segments being so static as to cause pressures that bring the varied reflexes to the activities of the sensory and sympathetic reaction upon the cerebrospinal system, as they react upon organs under the direct control of the nerve and blood system.
3. In those areas from the 9th dorsal downward, we find suppressions, subluxations and segments that have become static.
4. Over these areas we would apply, once or twice a week, oil heat - as from toweling dipped in Peanut Oil and applied with heat to the spinal area.
5. Just after these have been applied, have osteopathic adjustments made.
6. Do this for three to four weeks, then leave off two weeks, and then repeat. Keep this procedure up for quite a long period, some six to eight months and we would find - with these general corrections - there should be brought much better conditions for this body.
7. This we would do. Don't begin it unless it is to be carried through. Any good osteopath, especially of the Missouri school would be preferable - the Kirksville school, a graduate of that particular school would be preferable.
8. Do that and we will bring better conditions for the body.
9. Ready for questions.
10. (Q) What combinations of foods are good and what
4008-1 Page 2
combinations are bad for my system? What foods should I avoid? (A) Avoid too much starch or too much proteins without consideration of the sufficient calories or carbohydrates; that is, do not overburden the system with acid-producing foods. As an illustration - these are not the only foods to take or to leave off, but: Do not take fruit juices with either cooked or dry cereals at the same meal. Do not take large quantities of potatoes and white bread at the same meal. Do not take quantities of such as beans, dried or the dry or fresh beans where they are shelled - as butter beans or Lima beans - with white bread. Do not take such in combinations with macaroni and cheese. Of course, these are merely suggestions as to the character of foods. Have at least once every day a raw vegetable salad; such as water cress, celery, lettuce, raw carrots, onions, radishes or the like, with other foods. Do not eat fried foods, for this particular body. Fish, fowl and lamb are preferable as meats. Do have at least two vegetables that grow above the ground (whether they are such as squash or the like) to one that grows under the ground, or about the same combination as with the raw vegetables. If man would consider same, even in an ordinary term, there are at least three of those that grow above the ground that man eats raw, to one under the ground that he eats raw. This applies to cooked foods also, meats or other foods.
11. (Q) Do I need any concentrated vitamins and minerals? (A) Not until there are those corrections made that will cause proper reflexes through the system, both to the nerve and blood supply of upper and lower portion of body.
12. (Q) Are Dr. Northen's best? (A) Leave these off until there has been a better balance created. Then, these may be indicated as needed.
13. (Q) What causes headaches? (A) Pressures in nerve system, the disturbance between sympathetic and cerebrospinal, and often arises from the
4008-1 Page 3
periods of digestion not being well balanced.
14. (Q) Is refined white sugar and flour bad for me? (A) Depends upon how they are combined. Do not use cream or milk in tea or coffee. Sugar may be used in moderation. Do not use white flour except in pastries, and eat pastries not more than once a month.
15. (Q) What healthful sweets should I use? (A) Honey, or Karo syrup or corn syrup.
16. (Q) What should be done to eliminate gas in stomach? (A) Don't form it, by those combinations of foods that cause same to be produced! The balance in the starches and the acid-producing foods will help to keep this down. When gas forms, use the Charcoal tablets as absorbents (those prepared by Kellogg or Battlecreek) and increase the eliminations. For this body, increase the elimination by the change in the fruits and vegetables taken, or by the use occasionally of enemas to relieve the tension through the colon. If there will be the correction of subluxations and suppressions, and the static conditions produced in the segments of the lower portion of the cerebrospinal system, many of these conditions will be corrected.
17. (Q) What should I do to correct protruding abdomen? (A) Do the things indicated. The colonic irrigations will be the better.
18. (Q) In building up muscles can I do it myself or is there some company or person best qualified to instruct me? If so, who and where? (A) This is, of course, dependent. Anyone may instruct, but a regular setting up exercise will build muscles. You'd better first fix the body, however, before you undertake any systematic setting up exercise. When begun, it should be adhered to consistently and not spasmodically if any definite muscular forces would be builded up in the body, or in arms or lower limbs.
19. (Q) Is it best to have windows open or closed while sleeping at nights? (A) Top and bottom of windows should be opened.
20. (Q) Does shaving have any harmful effects on the nervous system? (A) Depends upon the conditions of the nervous system at the time and the character of lotion or shaving cream used. Use only those that are alkaline in their reaction.
21. (Q) What should I do to correct heavy feeling frequently after breakfast?
4008-1 Page 4
(A) Do the things indicated and don't eat too much, or these combinations that the more often cause the feeling.
22. (Q) What causes the ticklish, feathery feeling on upper left side of lip, which I have had most of my life? (A) This is reflex from nerves of the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nervous system, from subluxations existent in the lower lumbar and lower dorsals.
23. (Q) What causes and what will correct the sore in right nostril which I have had for years? (A) This comes from poor circulation. The treatments indicated should relieve same.
24. (Q) Who in Portland or Denver could best give the proper treatment or correction for my feet that are in bad shape? (A) The same that makes corrections for the cerebrospinal system may correct the feet.
25. (Q) How should adhesions in abdomen and appendectomy scar be corrected? (A) By the character of eliminations and of the treatments indicated.
26. (Q) Is there anything I could do to restore hair on head? (A) This should have begun some years ago. The use of crude oil, and then a massage with white Vaseline afterward, will respond much - but much of this has been destroyed beyond restoration.
27. (Q) Do I have a goitre? (A) No. The fullness is a pressure in the thyroid but it is the inner not the outer. This will respond much better through treatments for the corrections of the subluxations in lower portion of spine.
28. (Q) What should be done about the sinusitis? (A) Do the treatments indicated and the massages that will follow with the osteopathic adjustments for the better circulation through all portions of body, and these will correct through the sinus; provided there is the attention given to the keeping of a correct balance in the acidity and alkalinity of the body.
29. (Q) Do I have any infected teeth? (A) Some need local attention. Go to a good dentist.
30. (Q) Is it harmful to wear a higher heel on the foot of the leg that seems to be shorter? (A) When the corrections have been made it will not be necessary. It is harmful unless this is needed to keep the same length in the limbs when standing or walking.
31. (Q) Who shall I go to in Portland for most successful treatment of prostate gland? (A) The same that you'll go to for the correction of the other conditions.
4008-1 Page 5
32. (Q) What should be done for constipation? (A) Do as just indicated.
33. (Q) In exercise what muscles should I concentrate on, if any, for most beneficial results? (A) This depends upon what portion is to be developed, but as indicated, it is not best to undertake this until the subluxations have been corrected and there has been established better circulation and coordination through the body.
34. (Q) Do negative thoughts of the mind tend to weaken the body physically? (A) They have their effect upon the body both physically and mentally.
35. (Q) Is there any combination of foods that could be truthfully called Brain Foods, Nerve Foods, Muscle Foods? (A) Those that are body-building; those that are nerve building and those that supply certain elements. For, as indicated, those foods suggested are to be taken by the body. Fish, fowl and lamb are those that supply elements needed for brain, muscle and nerve building. Vegetables that carry certain chemicals, as carrots, celery and lettuce are especially nerve building and supply the vitamins called the B and B complex, or B combinations. Those foods that grow under the ground of certain characters, as well as lentils, beans and cabbage supply certain sulphurs as well as other elements that are needed in the body for better chemical balance.
36. (Q) Spiritual foods? (A) These are needed by the body just as the body physical needs fuel in the diet. The body mental and spiritual needs spiritual food - prayer, meditation, thinking upon spiritual things. For thy body is indeed the temple of the living God. Treat it as such, physically and mentally.
