Time of Reading Unknown. ..., Tennessee.

1. LBC: You have before you Miss [4449], ... Ave, ..., Tenn. I want you to go over her carefully, examine her thoroughly and tell us what is the matter with her.

2. EC: Now, you see, we begin over the body here from the head. We have an over-supply of excitement to the nervous force in the body to the head, producing at times a pain through the pelvis, having an anemic condition of the body, or the blood in the system, producing a straining onto the system, an over-taxation of the nervous forces in the body, and the body becomes, at times, racked with pain through the top of the head here - bearing down pains through the pelvis, a predisposition to a plethoric condition to the blood supply to the uterus. That is brought about by the nervous and anemic condition in the body and an overflow to the blood forces in this at the time of the menstrual period, until we have enlarged the organ itself; that is through the discharge of the womb, until we have a dilated, or enlarged, condition.

3. The general reflexes from this condition show themselves through that at the time of these, or just before, through especially that of cold or of indigestion, or tying up of the alimentary canal itself and its branches feeding to this through both the nervous and muscular forces. The over-weakened condition, as of the blood supply in the body, gives it the disposition to take on to itself more of the ailments, the feelings or expressions from outside than we have in the ordinary or normal body.

4. A lack of the hemoglobin, or red blood in the body, though the making of the same is very good, through the life and action of the physical body. That is, we have plenty of life, a disposition to movement, keep the body in motion, movements here, but this condition as we have had here, as you see, brings about the condition.

5. To remove this from the body as we have in the system, we would take here, systematically, baths of cold water. Bathe the hips and puerperium with water containing vinegar and salt, not too much, just to strengthen the body. An over straining in the system of douches composed of cool water, not cold, and alum. From this condition we have produced in

here we have the vulva itself broken out with pimples, causing this condition of white mucous that masses most all the time, other than that of the menstrual period itself. A pack composed, internally here to the womb, of equal parts of alum and bismuth. A tonic to be taken internally here, sulfate of iron, diluted sulfuric acid, sulfate of magnesia and cinnamon water, taken night and morning, about a tablespoonful at a time, to strengthen the condition and bring about a rejuvenation of the conditions in the whole system. The body will be all right.

6. Not too much, you see, and the diet here, not fill the stomach too full. Now this condition that we have into the stomach is to act with that of the secretions of the gastric juices in the stomach itself to bring about the conditions we have through the colon and the intestinal tract. If we produce all this it will be by the temperament of the body - according to the status it is taken in. Perhaps we will have to take into the system salts and water to slush and get out the matter from the intestines. Not too much stimulants at the time, if you do, let it be than of wine.

7. (Q) Any other treatment you would suggest now? (A) Do this and improvement will be almost from the first. [Following is the same reading but apparently taken by another Stenographer. Paragraphs are numbered sequentially through both readings versions for indexing purposes.]

9. EC: Now, we begin here with the head, and going over the body we find an over supply of excitement of the nervous force in the body from the head producing at times in the pelvis, having an anemic condition of the body or the blood in the system producing a straining on the system and an overtaxing of the nervous forces in the body, and the body becomes at times racked with pain from the top of the head, also bearing down pains through the pelvis, and a predisposition to a plethoric condition of the blood supply to the uterus, that has brought about by the nervous and anemic condition in the body and an overflow of the blood forces in this at the time of menstrual periods until we have enlarged the organ itself, that is through the discharge through the womb until we have a dilated or enlarged condition, the general reflexes through this condition show themselves through that at the time of these, or just before the taking cold or of indigestion or of the tying up of the alimentary canal itself and its branches

feeding to this through both the nervous and muscular forces. The over-weakened condition as of the blood supply in the body, gives it the disposition to take on to itself more of the ailments or feelings or expression from outside than we have in the ordinary or normal body. A lack of the hemoglobin or red blood, in the body, (though the making of the same is very good) through the life and action of the fisical [physical?] body, that is, we have plenty of life, a disposition for the movement keeping the body in motion, but this condition as we have had here as you see brings about the condition we have at present. To remove this from the body as we have in the system we would take here systematically sitz baths of cold water and bathe the hips and pubius with water containing vinegar and salt, not too strong but just enough to strengthen the body from the over strained condition of the system then douches of cool water and alum. From these conditions we have produced in here, we have the vulva itself broken out with pimples, caused from this condition of white mucous that masses here most all the time other than that of the menstrual period itself. For this a pack to the womb saturated with equal parts of alum and bismuth. A tonic to be taken internally of sulfate of iron diluted, sulfuric acid, sulfate of magnesia and cinnamon water, taken night and morning, about a tablespoon full at a time to strengthen the condition and bring about a rejuvenation of the conditions in the whole system and the body will be alright, not too much you see and never fill the stomach too full. Now this condition that we have in the stomach is to act with that of the secretions of the gastric juices in the stomach itself to bring about the conditions we have through the colon and the intestinal tract. We will take into the system salts and water for a slush to rid the intestines from the feces. Not too much stimulants, if any let it be of unfermented wine.

10. (Q) Any other treatment you would suggest now? (A) Do this and improvement will be almost from the first.
