1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [4458], present in this room. You will answer the questions which he will ask you regarding his business associations and relations, also regarding certain friends and relatives.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [4458] present in this room.
3. With the PHYSICAL forces of the body, THESE we find very good in many respects. There ARE some conditions (as known by body) that should not be neglected because they are in abeyance at the present time, or conditions.
4. In the business associations and relations, ready for questions.
5. (Q) What about my Winston-Salem enterprise? Should I close it out, as I have decided in my mind to do? or would it be best that I continue? (A) Closing it under the present circumstances and conditions, while not as satisfactory as had been anticipated by the body, would prevent some farther discussions and some farther losses; yet were the undertaking continued until there are changes in CONDITIONS - this might be made, COULD be made to be very valuable; but the determination in self TO close - and to PREVENT some other changes - might be very good.
6. (Q) Has my manager at Winston-Salem been honest with me? (A) In - as they generally go, yes. These conditions and circumstances that have arisen, that have entailed some questioning in the mind, have been not from the honesty or lack of honesty on the part of the manager so much as on the part of some just BELOW the manager.
7. (Q) Since my Norfolk store has not been the success I had hoped for - (A) (Interrupting) This may be MADE to be a success, though - by the changing of some policies, as has been adhered to, or set up. These may be changed or altered in such a manner as to be made more satisfactory, and really a real proposition. The managing and the policies can be
4458-1 Page 2
changed in such a manner, so that this reaches out FARTHER, and in the manner of the extending of those varied conditions as MEET the needs of individuals who are interested IN the carrying on - this would be much more successful.
8. (Q) What changes should be made in order to insure success? (A) As suggested, change some of the policies and some of the managing!
9. (Q) Should I carry out the plans in my mind regarding the important change in my Portsmouth business, or should I remain as I now am? (A) Be well to carry out those decided changes that have been contemplated, and that have been gone into rather thoroughly through the MIND of self - yet the whole purpose OF the change is, as has been figured by self, MOST beneficial.
10. (Q) If I should make the change, shall I move forward with my own capital or should I interest others in the project? (A) Move forward with the own capital in the PRESENT. Just a little bit later - October, or in the beginning of the next year, THEN interest - and don't ask too much, but there should be much that should be coming to self from the increase that has been brought about by the change.
11. (Q) Should I (or we) buy the building in which the new store is contemplated? (A) Under the present existent circumstances, a good time to buy! yet those conditions that will be necessary for the carrying ON for self, DON'T enhance self's own interests! As a "we", do very well. As a self, not so much - but be sure to be in the control!
12. (Q) Are my Portsmouth employees honest? (A) That's rather a broad question, with the circumstances and conditions that have surrounded - This should best be determined in self, though some have been questioned. As a whole, very good. As honest as self is with others, THAT'S how honest they will be with you!
13. (Q) What can I do to improve the habits of my employees [...] and [...], who indulge too much in intoxicating liquor to please me? (A) This ever a hard question, as respecting individuals who have reached a point where the gratification of individual desire outweighs the better judgement of the individuals - yet will the body awaken, through counsel - not cussing, but through reasoning - that of the desire on the part OF the individuals, as to the duty first, to the privilege next as the individual has in SERVING in the capacity as they do occupy - this the only way and manner in
4458-1 Page 3
which these individuals may be reached. ONE, as we find, will respond speedily, approached properly. The other - be well to arrange to replace, unless the body DOES change. The body understands and knows which is which.
14. (Q) Shall I continue to hold Cape Henry property in which I am interested, or shall I sacrifice it now at present prices? (A) I would hold.
15. (Q) Should I continue to hold my Radio-Keith stock or sell at present price? (A) Are circumstances and conditions such that it may be held until after the next break, and then the rise that will be in same about the 20th to the 30th of April, hold. Are circumstances such that conditions, and other properties and holdings are jeopardized BY the next break that should soon come, then we would sacrifice - but this MUST, at least in the present year, go to at least 58.
16. (Q) Shall I continue to help my brother in his business, or should I leave him alone "to paddle his own canoe"? (A) This entails a great deal of personalities and dependencies that have long existed. These would deal with conditions that, to be rid of - or even free from some of the aids would make for self a feeling of neglect to some of the promises that have already been made, yet to continue to aid without more interest and more dependence being put in the efforts of, seems a useless and a hopeless job; yet there would be a neglect on the part of self, and there would be those conditions arising within self that you would BLAME self for not helping at least some, but to help them to help themselves will be the better, and better way - and let them KNOW, let them depend upon that there must be more effort on their part to assist and HELP themselves.
17. (Q) Will he get married? (A) He's contemplating same! Won't be very good for him.
18. (Q) Tell me if my very dear friend who is in trouble will suffer any more than he has already suffered, and what I can do to alleviate his present predicament. (A) This rather involves many circumstances and conditions. There is LITTLE that self may do at the present time, other than that BOND of sympathy and helpfulness that SHOULD go to an individual under the existent circumstance; for self's involvement would be out of the question under the circumstances, but the changes - as we find - will come for the better.
19. (Q) What shall I do about the Chronic Mastoid, which physicians say I have? (A) Have them taken care of! That has been indicated, as
4458-1 Page 4
already given. The body knows it. It knows what's to be done. A delaying or the putting off doesn't help it, but only accentuates conditions. This may be removed other than, as has been told, in such a SEVERE way and manner - will those conditions as PRODUCE or cause same be taken care of, see?
20. (Q) How should these be taken care of? (A) Some local treatments to those portions that are affected by same, as well as some corrections that will be found necessary in the upper dorsal and cervical region - especially in that leading to the central nerve system to the mastoids. McCrary can fix it!
21. (Q) Will my brother-in-law in Catawba Sanitarium, Virginia, ever recover? (A) Not much hope.
22. (Q) Any further advice for this body? (A) Much might be said as respecting the body, the body's mind, and the body's development. There have been periods when the body and the body-mind has been very close to that point where others have called him, "Good man", and he hasn't meant to be; and there have been periods when to the body itself it meant little as to what another thought, so long as the body had THAT it desired. Such periods when the body has taken thought of others rather THAN self, have been the most SUCCESSFUL - and will ever be! Get that!
