1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [195] of ... St., ..., Ohio, and his drawing of end view of new cam arrangement and sprangle attachments for [4666] Motor which I hold in my hand. You will answer the questions I ask.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [195]. Also the drawing as represents end cam shaft for [4666] Motor. Portions of conditions of these we have had before. The arrangements as we see in the drawing represent very near those angles and those conditions for sprangle ends as have been outlined for same. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) Is the curve S.T.V. in lower half of cam guide of too small a radius? (A) No. This near the proper angles that are necessary for proper activity of sprangles in the rotation.
4. (Q) Should this curve be more gradual? (A) No. The eccentric or the levitation as is produced by curve is necessary in the activity as is sought.
5. (Q) Should that circular part of cam designated M. be of smaller radius? (A) Of the proper ratio of the radius between that and that made by the angles as just given - S.T.V. - see?
6. (Q) Is M in correct proportion to N? (A) Rather make in correct proportion to the curve.
7. (Q) Are the sprangle guides on the sprangle wheel of correct radius? (A) Correct.
8. (Q) Are they set at correct angle? (A) Correct.
9. (Q) Figure Y at side shows end of lead having ball races D and E as shown while ball bearing at F not sprangled. Is this correct? (A) Correct, with the proper ratio between S.T.V. and M.
10. (Q) Would machine work when leads made as in figure X? where A and C are sprangled and Bearing B is not sprangled? (A) Would work. That in Y works, with the proper ratio set, the better.

11. (Q) Would it work if all the Bearings A. B. & C. were sprangled? (A) Work the better all sprangled, as has been given. This the greater variance for the whole operation, for - as seen - the power of activity GAINED by the set of the sprangle!
12. (Q) Is diameter of that part of cam designated N too large? (A) No.
13. (Q) In figure Y is ball race D distance enough from F? (A) Proper ratio.
14. (Q) Is ball race E in correct place? (A) Correct.
15. (Q) Any suggestions for further changes? (A) None other than that as designated in making the proportion of the circular portion in M as that in proper ratio to the curve, as given. Then we have the sprangle set in that angle as is seen in Y from A, C and D, in their proper ratio. These should operate in MAGNIFICENT form.
16. (Q) Give the figures of the ratio N to M. (A) It's the ratio between M to the curve, in that given. That's the ratio to consider, see? We are through for the present.
