1. LS: Can present obstruction be removed? If so, how can best be done, or will it be better to make new location and drill new well in this territory? Is there another location where oil may be found at a more shallow depth in paying quantities than well heretofore drilled? If so, where best to drill? Which will be the cheapest, for the Company to drill a new hole in this territory, or clean out the old well and drill to production? If best to clean Old Well, then how best to remove lost tools, or is it better to case by them?
There is a gas well located on Cal Laney's land about 1-1/2 miles north west of Duffau, Erath County, Texas, which is about 35 miles north west from Kopperl Well. Would it be better to continue operations in the Kopperl Territory, or remove tolls to the location near the Laney Gas Well to a location nearby, and in what direction from the Laney Well is location made best and shallowest production? Would operations in the vicinity of the Laney Well be more profitable for the Company than to continue in the Kopperl territory, and why?
2. EC: Yes, we have had these before, you see. [GD's note: We have no copy of previous readings. See [3777] series.] The conditions have changed a great deal in the operations, and the hole, since last we had it here. Rather expensive proposition to remove tools or to case by at this depth. A different well, or a location drilled from, would be best, though may be reached in this hole, but to drill from another location with the different conditions would be less expensive, than to clear this, or to case by. To the North of this, as we have given, by or from the cross structure, which may be reached northwest toward the southeast, and on the southeast side, production would be found at a less depth than has been in this. In this we would find the best show at 29 to 3100, you see.
3. In the moving of tolls from this vicinity, at the present time, to the Laney Well or holdings, you see, there are many conditions to be considered as to whether it would be better policy for the Company now operating in the Kopperl

vicinity. We have this condition to be met: First, with the proposition on which the locations might be made in the Laney vicinity here, be careful of the condition of the title of properties first with those that are interested in developments in the Kopperl vicinity, we have that to overcome, of the personal interest that may be felt or would be felt by the moving of the personal interest in the operations. One becomes separate from the direct influence of those interested, though the proposition might be made to be better for operations to be made in the Erath County holdings if made correct and the titles are in proper shape before tolls are put on holdings and moneys supplied sufficient, else there may be entanglements when tools are wanted to be removed from property. With titles cleared, with operations for the Erath holdings, we would see would be better for all conditions at present.
4. (Q) In what direction from the Laney Well is location best made for shallow production? (A) South by East, fifty yards.
5. (Q) Where would be the next best location, when not possible to get acreage that close to the holding? (A) We should keep on this cross structure as is shown through this district. You see, as the land lays with the road that runs here, that in the rough and wooded edge being the better for the oil production, while that to the higher and farther North and cleared being more pressure from the gas formations, so follow closer the line that comes for the overlap here. That condition that needs to be looked after for the best proposition for financial conditions is to get rid of the well with first production, because it soon plays itself out, with the formation as shown, but this might be [with?] some expense to overcome and be brought back, 26 to 27 to 2800 feet here, beginning in the higher ground here, beginning with 23 to 58, see. Follow this line for this uplift or cross structure that comes here for this operation that has been.
6. (Q) Is there any merits in the instrument Mr. [953] has been using to locate oil? (A) There is.
7. (Q) How far does the pool of oil extend from South from East from the Laney Well, Mr. Cayce? (A) Where it comes with a cross structure for a mile then turn almost direct East with this structure, you see.
8. (Q) Mr. Cayce, in search for a better place to drill in the Kopperl vicinity, would the next location be best on Mr. Wyrick's land or South of that? (A) That, that is not as deep is on the land as we have
4972-1 Page 3
made location here before, three to three and one-half miles North from the Barne's Well at present, that of the shallow depth on Mr. Wyrick's land.
9. (Q) At what depth would oil be found on Mr. Wyrick's land, and how? (A) Beginning from the 2900 foot, as we have given, and the production from this would be very, very good, for this would be the increase production as the pressure is even removed, increases the flow of the oil for the pressure would come from the opposite direction or forces. We are through.
