R E A D I N G
Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. ..., Mass.
1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.
3. We have a combination of disturbances. These arose first from a congestion or the flu, and then poisons settled in the lymph circulation through those areas above the 3rd and 4th dorsal.
4. This increased circulation causes puffiness under the eyes and inflammation in the lachrymal ducts. Thus the swelling of face and eyes, and the activity of the kidneys becomes involved through sympathetic reaction.
5. We would have at least five or six good relaxing adjustments osteopathically, with special reference to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th dorsal and the 3rd cervical, and about the head and neck. These should be of a relaxing nature, not stimulating, with special reference to those areas indicated, but relax the whole body.
6. Through such periods we would increase the eliminations, using such an eliminant as broken doses of Caldwell's Syrup of Figs or Syrup of Pepsin; half a teaspoonful every hour and a half for a whole day at the time. This is preferable to taking three to four spoonsful one time, for in small doses the system absorbs these properties.
7. After taking these properties for a whole day, then flush the system with two heaping teaspoonsful of Sal Hepatica dissolved thoroughly in a glass of water.
8. These will bring much better conditions for the body.
9. When we remove the pressures, we will remove the conditions causing irritation to the trachea and bronchi. Thus the corrections osteopathically, that should be of the relaxing nature and not stimulating.

10. For at least twenty minutes each day, but the same period each day, we would apply Glyco-Thymoline Packs over the eyes. Then cleanse with plain luke warm water and apply a poultice of scraped Irish potato. These should be old potatoes, of course, (and all those in this particular section are old at this season of the year). Scrape the potato, apply on gauze and lay directly over the eyes, letting remain for at least twenty minutes. Afterwards cleanse the eyes with a mild antiseptic solution.
11. Doing these we will clear the conditions and bring about near to normal conditions.
12. We are through with this reading. [Note: In most cases when EC reached the end of a reading he would say: "Ready for questions". In this case however, he did not do so.] Two copies to Self (one for the osteopath - Please let us have the name and address of the one you choose.) Copy to Ass'n file " under case number for indexing (See directions [which were enclosed] for preparing Glyco-Thymoline Packs.)
