1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5545]. Now, we find there are abnormal conditions for this body, and these, as we find, may be corrected. While, were the conditions disregarded, they might become serious. In their effect upon the system, is the improper assimilation - and, naturally, the improper eliminations. In SPECIFIC conditions, they have to do with the digestive system proper. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [5545] we are speaking of, present in this room. First:
2. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find low in vitality. In pressure, this changes. In pulsation, this near normal. In temperature, at TIMES it shows existent inflammation in the system. In the ORGANS as affected, or affecting the blood supply - the liver shows congestion, and the stomach itself shows lacerations; NOT so much ulcerations, as lacerations. Hence calling at times for the blood flow that affects the heart's activity, though no organic heart trouble. In the metabolism of the system, this is changed or altered according to the deflections OF the CIRCULATION, as is called on in its weakened or low state of vitality, or virility to the system.
3. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, with such conditions, both mentally and physically, as for the nerve conditions - becomes taut, and there is STRAIN upon the whole OF the nerve system. Especially is this true in the SYMPATHETIC nerve system, and especially is this found in the centers in the upper portion of the dorsal region, as connect with the cerebrospinal system's nerve centers, as govern directly the forming of activity in the stomach proper when digestion begins to take place. In the centers specific, we find these in the 4th dorsal, in the 7th and 8th dorsal. These, with their connections with the SYMPATHETICS, show the greater
5545-1 Page 2
reaction. These also form that basis through which the nerves' reaction to the brain gives to the system those distresses as occur at times.
4. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS, brain forces very good; only changed or altered by the reflexes in system where sympathetically these are detrimental to the well-being of the body. Organs of the sensory system affected only in that relation as is seen in the organs and the sympathetic system, which produces at times over-activity, or supersensitiveness, and at others suffering from same.
5. Condition in throat and mouth - these need ATTENTION, through the condition as is existent in the respiratory system, or in the manner in which eliminations are unbalanced in the system, and should be kept - at most times - in an alkaline condition, when the reaction is acid. This we will find well to use as mouth washes, alternating same; of mornings with one character, of evenings with another character. Listerine and Glyco-Thymoline - ALTERNATING these, on account of the changes as are to be wrought in system.
6. In the throat or bronchia and lungs, these only show the effect of a depleted system.
7. Heart's action, as given, showing the effect of distresses, and of the condition as exists primarily in the stomach proper - both in the cardiac end and in the pyloric end do there appear the activities of an over-acidity, bringing to the system those of the lacerations, which in some forms are ulcered, but not ulcerations are the cause. Lacerations cause the ulceration. This depletes the amount of the secretions as are to aid in digestion. Hence the assimilation becomes poor in the system, gradually depleting the system - as has gone on for some time.
8. The pancreas and the spleen show the EFFECT of these conditions. The spleen, in the attempt to meet the needs, shows plethora in ONE end, and the drying or smaller in the other. These would be well to study, in this particular case.
9. In that of the lower digestive system, being an over-acidity from the conditions existent in system, naturally there are the resultant forces thrown into the intestinal tract, and THROUGHOUT this causes distress to the body.
10. In the activity of the eliminations as thrown off through the kidneys, or through the HEPATIC circulation as a whole - the liver, as indicated, congestion. Hence the excretory and secretive system not ALWAYS working in accord one with another, for often the greater portion of the blood
5545-1 Page 3
supply is in THIS portion of system, with insufficient in the extremities. This causing the laxness of the circulation.
11. In the kidneys, these express themselves in the character of the urine, or of the eliminations as are thrown through same, and will be found that these may be altered or changed considerably by the diet, or even by the AMOUNT of water that would be taken into the system.
12. In meeting the needs of the conditions of this body, not only must the specific conditions be considered, but also the building UP, or of the GENERAL debilitation as has existed on account of the conditions, so that - in aiding one we do not OVERTAX the other. The diet, of course, would be among the first things to be considered.
13. In meeting the needs, then, we would do this:
14. As medicinal properties that will aid the system, we would follow those of the alkaline, and especially of Chalk-Bismuth, and such, in the system.
15. The water that is taken - MOST of same should carry those of elm, and this should be prepared just before taking, but should ALWAYS be cool, or cold.
16. Just before the MEALS are taken, that of a MILD tea of Saffron should be able to coat the whole of the stomach proper. This will aid digestion.
17. Also those of the food values should be practically, or in a practical manner - they will be found necessary to be changed, see - for these will necessarily alter the conditions in system, and when there is found disagreement in any portion, alter these. The fruits and cereals should be those that are of EASY digestion. Occasionally there may be taken rice cakes, with honey - but the honey should NOT be other than that WITH the honeycomb. Not strained honey. Ovaltine may be taken as a drink at times. No tea, no coffee. In the character of MILKS - this will not always agree with the system, for curds would be produced from same that would be bad. Then, these may be altered by the CHARACTER of the milk at times as may be taken. That of the goat's milk, or of the dried milk, or of such, may be used occasionally. This with the cereals, or with the foods, or with the first morning foods.
18. Of the noon - these should consist chiefly of those of the liquid diet, and should NOT be too EXCESSIVE in ANY manner. Beef JUICE may be taken; but NOT the flesh itself. Small quantities, often sipped, would be the better for THIS body; that is, near the noon hour, see?
19. In the evenings - these may be altered to those that are blood and nerve building, and may be changed to any of the
5545-1 Page 4
characters of foods that are ALKALINE REACTING! Eggs may be taken at this time, provided the YOLK only is prepared, either in the form of hard and WELL MASHED afterward, mixed with any of the oils - olive oil, also those of cod-liver oil, should be part of the diet. Ready for questions.
20. (Q) What quantity of elm and saffron should be used? (A) For each glass of water a pinch between the finger and thumb of the ground elm, stirred well, with a small lump of ice in same; prepared about two to three minutes before it is drunk. Of the saffron - this should be made as a tea, STEEPED - as a tea - and NOT too strong. This may be altered according to that - when this is taken, it should be preferably warm, and just before the meal - see? So that, that as first taken, in the system - or into the stomach - forms a coating over the whole of same. If these are found to produce DISTRESSES at any time, NOT the QUALITY of the stuff but the QUANTITY should be decreased; for these will be effective, as will also be found Magnesia and Bismuth will be effective in CHANGING the conditions in the system. Do that. Charcoal should be effective also, to reduce the amount of gas. Well that the irrigations of oil be occasionally used for the lower portion of the system, so that the colon may be cleansed properly, and that the STRAIN as has been induced by the lack of blood supply through this portion of the system may be increased. BUILD up the general system. The manipulations as would be given in this condition would be for the strengthening of the whole nerve system, that the body may relax thoroughly when it rests - for the BUILDING properties for THIS body will be found in rest and sleep.
21. (Q) Was operation successful? (A) Successful, in so far as that attempted FOR - but the activities on the system has NOT been as good as they should have been.
22. (Q) What causes present pains? What relief? (A) We have just been giving all of these conditions, as to what causes these pains and the relief as has been given for these, as have to be BUILDED into the system FOR the relief of these conditions.
23. (Q) Is smoking aggravating condition? (A) He won't want to smoke so much if he washes his mouth out with what we've been giving!
24. (Q) Should it be given up entirely? (A) No, shouldn't give it up entirely - for there is a relaxation from nicotine for the system that is NOT harmful
5545-1 Page 5
to anyone, IF taken moderately. Use these washes, and they will see how moderately it will smoke - for it will make him sick!
25. (Q) Should tonsils be taken out, and who would you suggest doing it? (A) Not at present. Those conditions as we find will correct themselves, with the proper adjustments in the system. Then, if these REFUSE to act with the antiseptics as are to be used in throat, as gargles and washes - if these REFUSE to act with these, THEN they will be later - see; not at present. There's been sufficient strain in this line, for there's NOT the proper coagulation effective in the system at present.
26. (Q) What are spots on hands and face due to? (A) Circulation!
27. (Q) How much physical exercise would you advise? (A) That to keep the normal activity. Do not become a drudge to self. See? That is, the activity should be judged according to the ABILITIES of the physical body as changes are wrought. Activities, to be sure, but do NOT OVERTAX the system, or the STRENGTH of the system; for, as has been given in the very first, the VITALITY is low. Let's USE that in building up that which IS to replenish the system, so that the resuscitation may be proper. The manipulations should be given at least ONCE each day; not too deep, but more of the soothing - occasionally, of course, these conditions in the regions as have been indicated are to receive special attention. These would be twice a week.
28. (Q) Would you advise colonic irrigation? (A) Not just yet. Let's get the system so that it will not be a strain on the system FOR such eliminations. Let's get all of this going through the system first. THEN we will have something to work upon. Let's don't require more of the vitality than we give into it FOR vitality. We are through for the present. Copy to Dr. Lydic (to be delivered to patient on leaving hospital) " " Ass'n office " " Cayce Hospital " " Wife on Feb. 12, 1930
