Time of Reading Cayce Hospital, 4:55 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Virginia Beach, Va. (Body and enquiring mind - business questions)
1. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind of [5575], and those conditions as surround same. First we would give, much of that that disturbs the body in such a manner even as to cause much of the distressing conditions that arise at times, will never happen! and were these to happen, even in some manners exactly as the wildest moments expect, what changes would there be that would add one hair, or give a better satisfaction than in knowing the life and those dependent upon self has been made worth while? and while the worry only will make for distress and bring uneasiness TO those dependent. Then why worry? Ready for questions.
2. (Q) Should the body move ... shoe store, ..., N.C., to ... Street? (A) Would be better. Now, these conditions we see as surround this are, that there are certain elements as is known to the body, [5575], concerning not only the leases and the changes affecting it in this direction, but the change of the location as is effective to the public - while causing some disturbances, in the manner, to be sure, but the effect to the public, we will find, increases - in the ABILITY, even, of the output.
3. (Q) Was it advisable to make ... and ... into one corporation? (A) This rather a large order, for while these will ENABLE the body, and bodies, to accomplish MANY THINGS - if the body is going to allow this change to WORRY self, because portions of the responsibilities are being removed from the body itself, it wouldn't be good - but will the body accept conditions as they are - will the body put that same trust in those that are in charge, and the changes as come about, as is asked of others in self - well and good. WE would say, well that the change was made. But don't worry about it!
4. (Q) Is the body's bookkeeper, Mr. [...] capable of his work? (A) Capable, and trustworthy. Of course, this does not
5575-2 Page 2
mean that there may not come, or that it is an impossibility for the body to be tempted - but, as the body trusts, as the body demands - not demand dictatorially - but as the body seeks, desires the abilities of the man to find expression in the interests of the body, so will the effort put forth, and so will the results show in the activities of the body.
5. (Q) Should the body go home on Sunday? (A) Dependent upon the conditions. The surroundings are such that the CHANGES would be more beneficial, to be sure, but do not overtax the strength and vitality to such an extent as to be DETRIMENTAL to the best interest of the physical forces - but WE would find, with the changes, better conditions for the body.
6. (Q) Will it be advisable to sell his chain stores or to continue opening new ones? If so, the cheaper or the better stores? (A) Here, again, we find rather a large order, for there are many different angles from which this may be viewed. With the continued opening of more stores, there is the continued responsibilities of same, and the body has already overburdened self much in this direction. But, were there rather the consideration of the openings of various and other stores of the more medium product, or grade, there will soon be the opportunity of disposing of the chain stores to such an advantage - it won't be necessary to open any more! Then, there is the other (that would be the better one) - there is the other wherein, will the body continue to keep those ALREADY in operation, and so operate same that they become less of a burden MENTALLY, by the placing in charge of such store those whom the body has IMPLICIT faith and confidence in - some of these are the hard worries, for there are of these - one, two, and at times three that often BOTHER the body, as to the efforts and the MANNER, and the policy of the management. This not GOOD for the body, mentally or physically. This ANOTHER consideration. The opening of others continues to be a source of continued activity, from which the body should rather begin to get away FROM, than adding to. Not that the age, the health, or the ability has reached even the turning point, but why so burden self that self and those around the body may not enjoy the fruits of the labors? WE would give, then, conduct those in operation, opening only sufficient others to bring about that coalition as must and will come.
7. (Q) What would you advise in regard to ... Shop, ..., N.C., lease - that I am being sued for? (A) This an unsavory condition, from more than one standpoint. The lease is WORTH all asked, but getting the proper HANDLING is different. Meet the conditions, and
5575-2 Page 3
OPERATE the store!
8. (Q) Would you advise the body to ask Mr. Rothstien, at the Broadway national Bank, New York City, for a loan? (A) We would. This would be a very good connection through which this coalition may be begun.
9. (Q) Which of these two concerns would you advise me to do business with, and which one of the two are the most sincere - Mr. A. J. Brauer, of Brauer Bros., St. Louis, Mo., or Mr. Harry Shway of the Bond Shoe Co., Duane St., N.Y. City? (A) That in St. Louis.
10. (Q) Is it advisable to change the name of [...] to [...]'s in the chain stores? (A) Change to [...]'s.
11. That is all the questions.
12. In the chain stores, and in the changing of the names, or name, let this be that beginning through which the coalition will remove much of the stress and strain under which the body has labored. Naturally, the first question that will come to the body, when may there be expected such an opportunity, even? February, next year. We are through. Copy to Self " " Ass'n office " " Datastician
